Packaged as complete computer music solutions, the AUDIOGRAM Series bundle together a hardware interface with audio inputs and outputs, software for recording and producing music, and a USB cable for connection to a computer. Recording music from instruments, microphones, CD players or MP3 players is – according to Yamaha – as easy as installing the included music-production application, CUBASE AI, on your computer and connecting the audio interface using the USB cable provided.

Shure’s latest podcast (shurecast) deals with directionality. Perhaps it’s worth a listen. Here’s the direct link: Microphone basics: directionality

You might remember that I made a lot of nose about Snapper before and when it was released. Today I took a look at what seems to be the original – AudioFinder by Iced Audio. It actually looks more advanced to me, and it seems like it’s free with limited use.
There’s a video showing mostly the more music-related features of it, but I think it could be valuable for general sound browsing. I wonder why the speaker in that video sounds like a robot though…

ASK Videos has announced the release of a new GarageBand tutorial DVD. It caught my eye since it seems to deal a little with podcasting and voice overs. The downside is that tutorial DVDs are rather expensive, and if you don’t care about the music side of this DVD (which is definitely the majority of it) it will probably seem a little expensive to shell out 50 bucks for it.
Perhaps there’s someone here who want to learn about podcats and is an aspiring mixer, producer or musician?
Check out the details at ASK Videos website.

I’m just writing to tell you a little about what’s happening here and what you can expect to see in the future here at Audival.
Probably a few more reviews. First and foremost iZotope RX. I’ve been thinking about a couple of other things as well, but I want to make sure that it’s of interest to people. It’s unlikely that most podcasters reading this will spend $500-$1000 on a software plug-in, so I really need to find out where to draw the line.
I’ve been thinking about doing some videos and post them here. Sometimes when I discuss audio editing and such, it might be hard to follow, and a video would probably be easier. I’m still thinking of the best way to pull this off.
If you’re a long time reader, you might think I repeat myself at times in the Audio lingo section. Fear not, I’m not getting senile. The Audio lingo section was requested for making it easier on the readers to look up terms that might not be in everyone’s vocabulary. Prior to it’s existence I had to explain those terms in posts whenever I used them. So… I repeat those explanations in Audio lingo for search purposes. Great huh?
I usually update on weekdays but sometimes – like this week – I have a hard time getting it together time-wise. My apologies for that. I’ll of course make it up to you in the weekend.
If you have any suggestions to what you want to see here, just let me know and I’ll see if I can pull it off.
