Alesis iPod field recorder – ProTrack

Alesis has revealed a potential field recorder for owners of iPods – ProTrack (I wonder how long it took to come up with that name). ProTrack records to your iPod (Classic or 5th Generation), or iPod nano (2nd or 3rd Generation) in 16 bit 44.1 or 22 kHz either via the two built-in condenser microphones, or by connecting an external microphone (or other audio source I suppose). It features two combination XLR (mic) 1/4 inch inputs which can be phantom powered and 1/8 inch outputs. Other features worth noting is that it includes a ’switchable limiter’; it runs on batteries and includes a tripod stand.

TapeDeck… In this day and age?

Sure, why not! Don’t you miss cassettes? I do (and I’m one of those vinyl-junkies too!). TapeDeck is a virtual – you guessed it – tape deck. Could perhaps be useful. Have a look at the website, and don’t forget to click to open the box!

Korg has announced a new series of tools aimed for the home musician, but at least the controller looks like it could be of interest for podcasters who want some hands-on control of their rig. And look how great they look with a Mac!

DUY announce Silence – noise reduction plug-in

silenceexpertsmall.jpg

DUY has announced a new noise reduction plug-in called Silence.

From the DUY

How does it work? You simply analyse your noise, and the software will remove the noise for you automatically within seconds. You can also edit the noise properties by using a complete, powerful and intuitive set of tools. In addition, DUY Silence is not a “standard” Noise Reduction plug-in: it provides amazing additional features, allowing extraordinary control over the lowest level of operation, plus partial noise edition in order to satisfy the needs of advanced requirements for demanding users.

DUY Silence is available for Mac OSX in RTAS, VST, Audio Units (AU) and MAS formats. This breath-taking plug-in can be bought alone or as part of any of DUY’s special packages including other native products, such as DaD Tape, DUY Wide, Magic Spectrum, MagicEQ LE…

A demo video is available here on DUYs website.
