Hematerror 3

I had some fun with a very weird effect. Basically what I did was create take a very boring thing to start with and made the effect mess it up. Hopefully at least some of it is useful to any of you.

This is a synthish bastard.

Some not so detailed recording tips

After looking for info on the Mojave microphone I posted about earlier, I stumbled upon a section on the Mojave website about recording. Not very detailed or podcast specific at all, but some of you might enjoy it.

Mojave Audio debuts microphone for voice-overs

I found an article on Broadcast Engineering about a new Mojave microphone for voice-overs (among other things) called MA-201. I read about this several months ago for the first time, but perhaps it was released just now.

Small XLR USB interfaces

I’ve already talked about the CEntrance MicPort Pro (actually mostly copy+paste the press release) that have gotten some good recognition. I never posted about the AxePort Pro because, while a cool invention, I didn’t really feel it’s something for the typical podcaster. There’s more info about it on the official website if you’re interested.

Blue’s Icicle which I’ve reported about earlier is a similar idea. Create Digital Music has also recognized the similarities, and linked to several reviews of the CEntrance piece.

I’ve gotten emails from people asking what I think about these and, well, I think they’re really good ideas. I’m all for the smaller inventions, not everyone has space on their desks (I sure as hell don’t), but unfortunately I can’t really speak for the quality of the preamps. I can’t imagine the Blue, that will retail for $59, is of very good quality, but on the other hand not everyone wants to shell out a grand for a microphone preamp. If I ever get my hand on either one of these I’ll report back and let you know what I think of the quality.

Blue’s latest preamp, webcam and portable recorders

Blue has come back with full force in a way that might interest podcasters. With Icicle, Mikey Portable Recorder for iPod and Eyeball Web Cam there should be something cool for most of you.
