Do you need Speakerphone? (with video)

Audio Ease’s Speakerphone has been out for some time now and is viewed by many working in post production (film) as a blessing. I actually hadn’t thought about bringing it up here until I heard from someone that he used it in radio productions. I figured “alright, people will always want FX”.

So what is Speakerphone and what will it do? It’s a plug-in that emulates speakers! That might not sound very intriguing, but think about it. Say you’re doing a segment where two guys are supposedly talking through a walkie-talkie. The character of that sound is in the speaker, and Speakerphone will fix that. The same goes for old radios, telephones, guitar and bass amps, TVs, lots of toys, etc, etc. You name it. Speakerphone will pull it off.

I’ve been playing with it a little the last month and I’m very impressed. There are lots of settings so you’ll be able to sculpt the exact sound of your supposed location. Thankfully there are also lots of presets so you don’t have to build everything from scratch. I’m planning a review of it for ProTooler soon (probably next week). I’ll try to write a little more about it here too then as well.

If you want to see how it works, I suggest you check out the video on the Audio Ease website. I bet you’ll be impressed. I was.
