M-Audio Session Music Producer USB microphone

Engadget posted about this cheap USB microphone. Obviously geared towards very low-end musicians (semi-pro for $99, yeah right) but the way I see it, it could work well for podcasts. As I’ve mentioned in the past, the USB microphones let you record without a proper interface or mic preamp, so if your intention is to only record your voice this might be a good solution.

  1. anybody using SESSION MUSIC PRODUCER can tell me if you can
import a music track from a regular music cd then reduce the
vocals and actually record your voice over it?
I aprecciate any advise since I’m desperate to start recording my voice over some music tracks.

  2. Dan,

There have been attempts at this in the past. For instance I remember a plug-in for an old version of Winamp called “vocal remover”. These solutions haven’t been very successful however.

  3. I just bought this, and while the software leaves something to be desired (the driver DVD was automatically for a mac, I had to d/l drivers from the webpage) – and the Session software won’t load (Which is fine because I have Sound Forge Audio Studio 9.0 which is amazing) – it really has a great sound, and easy to use.

  4. once i put in my producer-usb cd in i can’t figure how to install it. i double click but it only pulls up the quick start guide. any help?
