I’m thinking of making a new podcast myself, and while I have the theme of it pretty much figured out, it made me think of other ideas for podcasts as well.
Comedy. Actually, I’m not a big fan of these personally, and I’m very picky when it comes to comedy on TV as well, but I can see why people enjoy it. Try sketches, dialog, or anything else you can come up with.
Reviews. This can be on anything from motorbikes to books. I think that I would enjoy something that’s kind of narrowed down and rather specific. For instance, if I was a motor head (not Motörhead!) and a sucker for Rolls Royce cars, it would be really cool to find a podcast that deals with only that. Of course, this could result in less visitors, but niched sites, blogs and casts can be valuable as well, even if they don’t see a million visitors a day.
Podcasts. Yes, seriously. Why not make a podcast about podcasts? Highlighting the best out there today.
Interviews. Interviewing someone is often a good idea. if you have some connections you’ll probably be able to get a little better interviews than others. Also keep in mind that ‘the big names’ in some niches are not big names outside of them, meaning that it’s possible to get interviews with some of them with little effort.
Bitching. Again, seriously. This is also something that I don’t care for, as anger or rebellion without reason but just for the cause of it don’t impress me. But there’s little doubt that being angry and complaining is usually what draws most attention.
